paradox of progress

I came across a psychological paper at my home talking about the paradox of progress.

With the increase in technology, more and more people find them to be able to accomplish more works than before. This makes them feel that they are more fruitful than before. However, this does not just stop there. Some people feel this way and has the urge to accomplish more - so they will work more. In the end, the technology does not really help them to finish the work faster so that they can enjoy life but the technology drives them to work harder.

So, the question is: is this living? or is it just surviving?

On the other hand, some people feel fruitful and want to grow but they will set a limit to the amount of work that they want to do. In the end, these are the people that will be able to enjoy life.

Some people might argue but by doing more, you will have more money to save later on so that you can enjoy. I am not against saving but how much more you are going to save that the money you are earning is NOW eating away the time you can spend with your friends, family, and others.

For me, the second group of people is LIVING. The first group will be entrapped in the endless cycle of human vanity.

So, what do you think? Is this right?
